Planning Ahead for Government Help with Foreclosure |

I was reading the Los Angeles Times blog section today and ran across an article about the rising levels of foreclosure in Los Angeles County. According to L.A. Foreclosures Still Piling Up, in April 2008, LA county foreclosures were 4.67 percent, this April it is 7.16 percent. These numbers represent a big reason why government foreclosure assistance is such a big deal. For people in LA County and everywhere else who see late mortgage payments down the road it is very smart to plan for the future. I have never been through the government foreclosure program but have done enough research to know that nothing moves fast in the world of government foreclosure assistance. The money has been set aside to help people but getting it means having a great deal of paperwork ahead of time.
You know your situation best. If you see your bank account draining every month and feel like staying on top of a mortgage is going to be tough then by all means start looking into government help with foreclosure. Having the right information will get you ten steps ahead of many people who don’t want to take the time.
